I am a Burmese activist, writer, and lifelong advocate for democracy, human rights, and gender justice. My political journey began on the frontlines of the 1988 nationwide pro-democracy uprising. Since then, I have spent over three decades in political exile. I founded the research and advocacy organization Progressive Voice, developed the Women’s League of Burma’s Peacebuilding Program, and continue to work closely with activists and grassroots networks across the region.

Drawing from my experience as a frontline activist, Writing the Resistance centers the voices and strategies of Myanmar’s democracy movement as the people work to free themselves from the violent and corrupt military junta. My mission is to hold power to account by examining the intersecting forces shaping this struggle, including gender justice, ethnic conflict, and the global fight against authoritarianism.

This is a call to stand with people everywhere resisting violence and building liberated futures from the ground up.
